PHOENIX, AZ — Technology platforms are shifting the strategy for addressing the national parking shortage by using real-world telematics and crowdsourced data to pinpoint exactly where Class 8 trucks are forced to stop. Instead of relying on guesswork to site massive mega-lots, companies like Trucker Path and Geotab are analyzing billions of data points to identify where drivers actually exhaust their hours of service.

Parking remains a critical pain point for every CDL-A driver on the road. The American Transportation Research Institute consistently ranks the lack of safe, legal parking as a top-tier issue for both carriers and operators. Between November 2024 and October 2025, data from the Altitude by Geotab platform recorded roughly 330,000 long-duration parking events on interstate ramps alone.
